Leslie 122 Description:

A Leslie is a combined amplifier and two-way speaker that projects sound from an electric or electronic device while modifying the sound by rotating the speakers. It is most commonly associated with the Hammond organ, although it was later used for guitar and other instruments. A typical Leslie includes an amplifier, and high and low frequency speakers, though specific components vary by model. The musician controls the Leslie either by an external switch or pedal to alternate between fast and slow speed settings, known as "chorus" and "tremolo".

The speaker is named after its inventor, Donald Leslie. Leslie began working in the 1930s to create a speaker for the Hammond organ that would more closely emulate a pipe or theatre organ, and discovered that the rotating sound gave the best effect. Leslie made the first speaker in 1941.
It soon became an indispensable tool for most jazz organists. In 1965, Leslie's shop was sold to CBS, who in 1980, sold Hammond. Suzuki Musical Instrument Corporation later acquired the Hammond Leslie brands.

Since the Leslie is a sound modification device in itself, various attempts have been made to emulate the effect using electronics. Many musicians have used the Univox Uni-Vibe, the Neo Ventilator, or Hammond-Suzuki's own simulator.

Come try it out, it's ready!
