Description
huendeskesHi!
A Terada from 1979, an excellent example of the Japanese Lawsuit era.
The Lawsuit era refers to the period between 1960 and 1980, when our Japanese friends unpunishedly copied the instruments of the major American guitar manufacturers. Often, they managed to create instruments of the same quality as the originals, of course, at a third of the price.
Mr. Terada's workshop was one of the most reputable among them. In the beginning, they made the legendary Morris guitars here, and from 1975, Fender entrusted them with their legendary F series acoustic guitars.
This particular piece is a Martin D-40 replica.
Beautifully dense spruce top, meeting Master Grade requirements. Inlaid throughout. Straight as a billiard table.
The rim and back are Brazilian rosewood, specifically a rarer reddish-grained early Rio Palisander. Interestingly, it has a matte finish, along with the headstock.
Very comfortable to hold, with a thin soft V profile mahogany neck, Rosewood fingerboard, Block inlay.
Refretted with fine, thin frets, with minimal wear.
Original Terada oil-tuned tuners.
It received a new, fully compensated saddle, ensuring octave purity.
With new 11 gauge D'Addario strings, set up.
There are signs of use, minor playing wear, patina... no cracks or major damage.
What does it sound like? I made a video with it, the advertised guitar is featured in the recording:
Loud, resonant, with good lows. Typical dreadnought short attack.
Comes with its original Japanese hard case.
If you don't have 40 years to wait for your instrument to mature, try one of these old Japanese instruments. :))
Postage OK!
Or a trip to Sopron.
No trades, thank you!
May the sun shine upon you!!!
