Neil quote: A brief history of Takamine classical guitars:
The company was founded in 1959 and renamed Takamine Gakki in 1962. In 1968, Masaru Kohno, one of the best classical luthiers in the world, took over the production of classical guitars. Masaru Kohno became famous by winning the world-famous Liege Concours National de Guitares (classical guitar builders` competition).

Takamine classical guitars had the same rosette and design as Kohno`s personal line. The 20, 30, and 40 models were mid-range, while the 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 were advanced models, featuring Kohno-style purffing and bridges.

Due to the high-quality soundwood used to build the guitars, the excellent craftsmanship, and the supervision of highly skilled luthiers, Takamine classical guitars sound better than many high-end guitars currently being produced.

The quality of vintage Takamine guitars in the $3,500-$10,000 range rivals and often surpasses modern guitars.
