Description
huendeskesA Marlin Sidewinder strat copy has become available for sale. It dates from the second half of the 80s, but I don't know the exact year of manufacture, only that it was made between '86 and '89.
Contrary to the popular urban legend, they were not made in England or Wales, but by the Korean Samick. (The Welsh-based British Music Strings Ltd was just a distributor.)
After '89, the company was bought by Hohner, and they were sold under the name Marlin by Hohner. This is a regular Marlin, but there wasn't such a category, so I listed it here.
The guitar is old and used, in condition appropriate for its age. There are scratches on the body, and some minor dings and paint chips, but no serious damage. The tremolo arm and one string are missing, and I think the other strings should also be replaced.
However, it is equipped with a licensed Floyd Rose tremolo system, the pickups, pots, and pickup switch work, it's electronically sound, the guitar sounds amazing. The neck is straight and undamaged, the fret height can withstand another leveling due to slight wear, but would need refretting afterward.
