Description:
The Hot Rod product line, launched as an upgraded version of the Blues series, achieved success among lovers of heavier sounds.
Based on experience, it can be stated that Fender is the benchmark for clean sound among tube sound enthusiasts. Even those loyal to other brands would not question this arguably bold statement. It's so true that, for example, among many others, the clean sound of Fender is the model for building the clean channel in the amplifiers of the inventor of the Rectifier sound.
The Deluxe also received the well-proven 12AX7 and 6L6 pairing: 3 pieces of the former work in the preamp section, while 2 x 6L6 tubes provide the guaranteed 40-watt full-tube power in the power amp. As a result, the gear is loud. Very loud... in a good sense, as the sound is truly full, warm, yet extremely fast with excellent dynamics. The distortion channel, selectable with the footswitch, provides a true crunch sound by default - a legacy of the Blues Deluxe - which, with the addition of a compressor, might be enough for some who prefer subtler distortion.
The sound is characteristic, kicking in mainly at higher volumes thanks to the 6L6s. This also applies to the More Drive channel (also selectable with the pedal); this is a true lead function, with plenty of gain for guitars equipped with humbuckers. When used with a Strat, we'll be reminded of the old saying: Fender to a Fender…
On the front panel, we find the usual potentiometers: Presence, Reverb, Master, Middle, Bass, Treble, Drive, Volume. The clean channel has a Bright switch to emphasize shimmering highs. The speaker is also the well-proven configuration: 1x12˝ Special Design Eminence® 8 ohm, 50-watt power. There is also an effects loop and an External Speaker jack for connecting an external speaker/cabinet. The cabinet finish is also beautiful; the silver fabric, framed by the black covering, harmonizes with the chrome control panel. The equipment weighs just over 20 kg.
