The concept of a conditioner
It's not exactly a Hungarian term, but we had to somehow translate the American term 'Power Conditioning'. Products branded with these two words do the following: they protect the connected equipment from mains overvoltage and (in some types) display the current mains voltage and the total load in Amperes. They provide overvoltage protection so effectively that the device can withstand surges of up to 6000V without damage (this is SMP protection). Furthermore, the devices filter out noise coming from the mains, which can cause serious problems for sensitive analog equipment.
