The DT 880 produces a professional stereo image, not just throwing details from right to left, but the center stage also comes together. It's a great feeling when headphones don't just try to create space in your head, but actually succeed. Moreover, they are quite airy; acoustic instruments don't creep hesitantly from the sides of the earcups, but elegantly sustained, they float easily and lightning-fast across the virtual stage. This airy, expansive effect is thanks to the semi-open design, which is typical for most Beyerdynamic headphones. The location where the music was recorded—be it an opera, an outdoor concert, or a small pub—comes to life thanks to the DT 880. You don't hear every distant detail, but the essence comes through beautifully.
The manufacturer recommends the 600 Ohm version for acoustic, naturalistic studio recordings and high-end systems, definitely with a more serious headphone amplifier.

The plush-covered earcups are pleasant to the touch, and the foam inside is soft enough not to press on the head and facial skin even during long listening sessions. The earpad is thick, so theoretically, people with protruding ears shouldn't have comfort issues. The clamping force of the headband is minimal, so often you barely notice you're wearing the headphones. In short, the comfort is excellent. The speaker chambers rotate slightly to follow the contour of your skull but cannot be folded out. The cable is attached on one side, with a few centimeters peeking out at the base of the stems, giving a retro feel. Unfortunately, the cable is not detachable, but otherwise, the cable quality is very good.
