ASCO W-20 1978 Japan..
ASCO Gakki was a typical small Japanese company during the Lawsuit era between '65 and '82.
Meaning they made American guitar copies, still with impunity...very successfully.
I've had several ASCOs in my hands...typically Stratocaster copies, all were usable good instruments..
In the 80s, the factory closed or was absorbed...
Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, mahogany back and sides...
Very exciting, mature, even chord sound, deeper, mellower tone due to the mahogany. Attack characteristic of short dreadnought guitars.
Straight C-shaped neck, adjusted...low string action and string tension, a very comfortable beast.
With fresh Martin strings...
Perfectly captures the Martin feel...
The guitar has remained in like-new condition for its age. Of course, there are pick scratches, minor or major indentations...but that's to be expected for an almost 40-year-old instrument.
Suitable for stage and studio.
The frets are original. It received minimal fret dressing and polishing. The truss rod is two-way, it works.
If you are looking for an acoustic guitar, try one of these old instruments...you will fall in love with it! It has soul and a story. :) It will be a faithful companion with a microphone or a good pickup...
