SABA Ultra HiFi Box 550 type audiophile quality West German speaker pair, vintage.
They have a wonderful sound and are a rare piece. In well-maintained aesthetic and impeccable technical condition. Characterized by detailed highs and dynamic sound reproduction, but the sound is not colored or aggressive at all, the bass is not 'loudness-enhanced'. However, it's not boring or flat like many English speakers. They have a balanced sound, with quite high sensitivity, and compared to many speakers, I would truly classify them in the audiophile category, especially after the modifications. I replaced all capacitors in the crossover with quality film capacitors, and they also received gold-plated banana binding posts, so they now accept both banana plugs and DIN connectors. I also added vibration-damping feet. The foam surrounds of the woofers were replaced in a very reliable and conscientious workshop in Pécs, so there will be no issues with them for a good while. The cost of materials alone was approximately 10,000 HUF beyond the speaker price, so I'm selling them at the price of the speaker drivers and crossover, but unfortunately, I no longer have space.
