Description
huendeskesHello!
This is an audacious Japanese Lawsuit guitar....Why?
The Lawsuit era refers to the period between 1960 and 1980 when our Japanese friends could copy the instruments of major American guitar manufacturers with impunity and flood the North American continent... and Europe too... with good quality copies.
The most brazen of these was Pro Martin... as it openly used the Martin brand name and copied them with millimeter precision....Thank God, and a couple of people!! :)
This was the only Japanese company Martin sued and won against!! (The other was Takamine... but they eventually reached an agreement... when they made distinguishing changes to their guitars).
Thus, Pro Martins had to leave America... the company consequently went into decline in international markets... a niche Japanese remnant still exists today.
So these guitars are very rare....
This piece was made around 1978-79, and has survived in painfully good condition...
And the good news is that the D-250 models have solid spruce tops!
The top is straight, not dried out. Beautiful, intricate abalone shell binding all around.
The pickguard still has the protective film on it! I'll leave the pleasure of removing it to the new owner. :)
Mahogany back and sides...
Mahogany neck... rosewood fingerboard. Comfortable, good-feeling D profile neck.
Frets are flawless! all tuners are in order....
Ebony bridge... with a compensated saddle, which keeps it in tune even in higher positions.
But how does it sound? Since it's solid wood, it's a perfectly balanced guitar. It has just the right amount of every frequency... no overpowering lows... or mids... and the highs are highly string-dependent anyway.
I made a short video with it.. decide for yourself... the advertised guitar is in the recording!
Freshly serviced... naturally with new Martin strings... as it should be.
If you don't have 40 years to wait for your instrument to mature, try one of these old Japanese instruments. :))
Does it come with a case?... Unfortunately, no....
Post Ok!
Or a trip to Sopron.
No trades, please!
May the sun shine upon you!!!
